MEP-360 Spreads Soil Food at LAKOU, Little Haiti

In Haitian Creole, LAKOU, derived from the French “la cour”, means courtyard. But it represents far more than a physical space. It is a deeply rooted tradition of community gathering, where culture, knowledge, and heritage are passed down from generation to generation. Through its Vegan Compost Regenerative Pilot Program (VCRPP), MEP-360 is proud to be part of this vibrant community. Our goal is to evaluate the impact of 100% vegan compost, also referred as soil food, compared to conventional chemical fertilization on soil health, plant performance and water efficiency in established landscapes. This collaboration is one of many experiments MEP-360 is currently conducting across South Florida. Natural, organic soil food is essential to the future of our environment and LAKOU understands the importance of culture, literally and in every sense of the word!
