Yoga, Sustainability, and Soil: A Meaningful Close to Earth Week at FIU

The Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International

University found the perfect way to close out Earth Week on April 25th. Organized by

the Alumni Board Network, “Yoga by the Bay” brought together alumni, students, and

community members for a moment of connection, wellness, and reflection set against

the beautiful backdrop of Biscayne Bay.

M.E.P. Juice and M.E.P. 360 were proud sponsors of the event, helping to create an

experience that was both nourishing and inspiring. The morning began with a peaceful

yoga session that set the tone for the gathering, as participants met on the mat to

reconnect with themselves, with each other, and with nature.

Then, attendees enjoyed fresh, flavorful M.E.P. juices, along with an unexpected but

meaningful takeaway: lima beans and vegan compost to plant at home. The message

was simple yet powerful: everyone can cultivate!

For many, learning how M.E.P. transforms fruit and vegetable remnants from the juicing

process into rich, nutrient-dense compost through a thermophilic process was an eye-

opening experience. What might otherwise be considered waste is instead returned to

the soil, closing the loop in a truly regenerative way.

The event highlighted a fundamental truth: healthy food and drinks begin with

healthy soil. By connecting wellness, sustainability, and community, “Yoga by the Bay”

offered more than just a moment of relaxation, it planted the seed for a deeper

understanding of how everyday choices can support a more sustainable future.

As Earth Week came to a close, the message resonated clearly: small actions, when

shared collectively, can cultivate lasting impact. 🌱
